united: pursuing Jesus together

United: Pursuing Jesus Together was the theme for the 2020-2021 school year via Southern Adventist University’s Campus Ministries department. As the creative content director, I was in charge of creating the branding experience for this theme.

inspiration behind logo

During the brainstorming process, I decided to create an abstract logo in order to make it gender-neutral. Since the theme was entered around pursuing Jesus together, I chose something simple and abstract, yet packed with a deeper meaning. The logo is a representation of the spiritual journey.

Top rectangle: We are all messy and tangled in sin,

Middle rectangle: but then Jesus steps in and straightens us out,

Bottom rectangle: and we become and whole and complete in Him.

team shirt design (front)

This is the shirt design in an asphalt color, which allowed the gold to pop. After all, it is the stage in our spiritual walk that shines the brightest—when we are no longer who we were but who Christ has beautifully transformed us into.

team shirt design (back)

In order to achieve unity, there must be an agreed upon goal, which is defined on the back of the shirt. The goal of the 2020-2021 school year was unity in Christ, which is found in John 17:23: “I in them and You in Me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that You sent me and have loved them even as you have loved Me.”

The partial logo design is also demonstrating the unity between man and Christ and symbolizing the beautiful transformation that takes place through the process.

For variety, this is the shirt design on a white tee, which gives the design a simple and clean look. It makes for a great conversational piece and creates an opportunity to share ones own personal testimony if asked.
